WINDSOR, UK, 20 July 2009 – ZBD, the epaper for retail specialist, has appointed Simon Jones as Head of Business Development, Europe. Jones, an experienced and highly regarded figure within the retail sector, brings with him almost 30 years’ experience in retail store solutions, and will head up the European sales operation.

Most recently, he worked as Director for Retalix, the global provider of integrated software solutions for the retail industry, where he was responsible for setting up their UK operation, as well as extending the business into Northern Europe. During his time at Retalix, Jones was responsible for some key business wins, including Sainsbury’s, Welcome Break, RIMI and Super de Boer.

Jones started his career with Proctor & Gamble and has subsequently worked for a number of technology companies focused on the retail sector. Prior to Retalix, he was Managing Director at Retail Business Solutions, a reseller of IBM and 3rd party solutions, including Retalix. He has also previously worked as Retail Sales Manager for Nixdorf/Siemens Nixdorf.

In this newly created role, Jones will help to build a strong market presence within Europe, through both direct and indirect channels. He will work closely with the expanding network of VISION partners to support and develop new business opportunities, as well as establishing a pipeline of direct opportunities with retailers in Northern Europe. His remit also includes the creation of a network of pan-European complementary partners and strategic alliances.
