Dynamic office signage
ZBD’s innovative technology has many applications outside of the retail sector. We signed a partnership agreement with Modulex, the architectural signage company earlier in 2009. The two companies have worked together to develop an innovative solution that will enable businesses to manage flexible and dynamic work space more effectively. The way in which organisations use their buildings is changing in favour of a more dynamic work environment. Businesses that operate any type of flexible work space – hot-desking or meeting rooms – know that unoccupied or unused space costs money. With estimates that as much as 40% of office space is unused at any given time, efficient space utilisation is essential for organisations to operate cost-effectively. Branded ‘eFlex’, the new solution consists of a digital display that can either be fitted to a desk, or outside a meeting room, and be set up to display information such as meeting room activities, employee or visitor names, booking times, etc. The displays update remotely and the solution can link to various sources – from simple spreadsheets, through to sophisticated facilities management systems. The displays update wirelessly from a central point giving businesses the ability to change sign information quickly and easily, and eliminating the need for paper-based signage. With a battery life of over 5 years, the solution will be particularly cost-effective for organisations where space is used frequently by different people. Its light-touch infrastructure means that the solution can be implemented quickly. The agreement will see Modulex sell the eFlex solution through its global partner network with the first implementation installed in May 2009 in Italy.
